Machine Troubleshooting - Triton 9000 Series

Problem: The ATM says "Temporarily Out of Service"
Cause: The ATM has either entered supply mode or has developed a fault that prevents it from communicating with the network.
Solution:
- Open the ATM control panel and locate the power switch on the left side of the power module at the rear of the enclosure.
- Press the power switch off, wait 10 seconds, then turn back on.
- After an ATM Reset the "Reset Error" and "Management" options appear. Select the "Reset Error" option. If the problem has been corrected. the ATM should return to normal operation. If it does not, please call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
Problem: The ATM says "Communication Error" or "System Unavailable"
Cause: The ATM may have developed a fault that prevents it from communicating with the network.
Solution:
- Open the ATM control panel and locate the power switch on the left side of the power module at the rear of the enclosure.
- Press the power switch off, wait 10 seconds, then turn back on.
- After an ATM Reset the "Reset Error" and "Management" options appear. Select the "Reset Error" option. If the problem has been corrected. the ATM should return to normal operation. If it does not, proceed to Step 4.
- Open the ATM control panel.
- Unplug the telephone cable from the bottom plug on the left side of the power module (at the rear of the enclosure).
- Plug in the base unit(not the handset) of a telephone and listen for a dial tone.
- If a dial tone exists, unplug the telephone and replug in the telephone cable. Close the ATM control panel and call 1-800-877-8762 for service. If there is no dial tone, continue with Step 8.
- Locate the telephone wall jack for the ATM.
- Unplug the cable and connect the base unit of a telephone.
- Listen for a dial tone. If there is no dial tone, there is a phone line problem. Contact your telephone service provider for assistance.
Problem: ATM Can't Read Customer Card
Cause: The machine may need to be reset, or data cable may need to be reconnected.
Solution:
- Open the ATM control panel and locate the power switch on the left side of the power module at the rear of the enclosure.
- Press the power switch off, wait 10 seconds, then turn back on.
- After an ATM Reset the "Reset Error" and "Management" options appear. Select the "Reset Error" option. If the problem has been corrected, the ATM should return to normal operation. If it does not, please call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
Problem: Can't Insert ATM Card Fully into Machine
Cause: There may be a foreign object lodged in the card reader slot.
Solution:
- Open the ATM control panel to allow light to shine through the card reader slot.
- Examine the slot from the rear of the card reader.
- If a foreign object is discovered, try to dislodge it using a thin, smooth strip of cardboard or wood (such as a tongue depressor) to remove the object.
WARNING: DO NOT USE SHARP OR METAL OBJECTS TO DISLODGE OBJECT. - Close the ATM control panel.
- Test the card reader. If a card still cannot be fully inserted, close the ATM control panel and call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
Problem: I Need to Clear the Journal
Solution:
- Access "Management Functions."
- Select the "Journal" option
- Select the "Clear Journal" option. This will audit all unprinted journal records.
WARNING: AUDITED RECORDS WILL NOT BE PRINTED WHEN THE PRINT JOURNAL COMMAND IS USED.
Problem: I Need to Print Journal Records
Solution:
- Access "Management Functions."
- Select the "Journal" option
- Select the "Print Last x Entries" option.
- Input the number of enties you want printed. WARNING: If "Print Journal" is selected, the entire electronic journal will print out, but you will not be able to recover the information at a later date.
Cause: The cash dispenser may be jammed.
Solution:
- Remove and open cassette.
- If there is currency in cassette, go to Step 3. If not, load currency, then go to Step 4.
- Is currency of good quality? If yes, go to Step 4. If no, obtain good quality currency, then continue to Step 4.
- Reinsert the cassette into the cash dispenser.
- Reset the ATM: Open the ATM control panel and locate the power switch on the left side of the power module at the rear of the enclosure.
- Press the power switch off, wait 10 seconds, then turn back on.
- After an ATM reset, the "Reset Error" and "Management" options will appear. Select the "Reset Error" option.
- If the error clears, go to Step 9. If error does not clear, call
1-800-877-8762 for service. - Do a "Test dispense." If error does not return, place the ATM back in service.
- If error returns, please call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
Error Code 101: Dispenser Error
Cause: The ATM may be out of money.
Solution:
- Open ATM vault.
- Verify there is cash in the cassette. If cassette is empty, load cash and proceed to Step 6. If cash is in the cassette, proceed to Step 3.
- Remove all poor-quality notes.
- Check dispenser for any jammed notes in the feed path.
- Check that all jam removal gates are closed.
- Press the power switch off and then on.
- Re-insert cassette.
- Reset error: press the power switch off and wait 10 seconds, then turn back on.
- If the error clears, go to Step 9. If the error does not clear, call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
- close and lock security cabinet.
- Do a "test dispense". Display should read "20 20 21".
- If error does not return, place ATM back in service. If error returns, call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
Error Codes 139, 140, and 141: Printer Not Responding, Printer Timeout, and Paper Jam
Solution:
- Open the ATM control panel and check printer paper path for blockage that could cause a paper jam.
- Check paper status. Replace paper if low or empty.
- Remove jam, if present.
- Close ATM control panel.
- Press the power switch off, wait 10 seconds, then turn back on.
- After an ATM reset, the "Reset Error" and "Management" options will appear. Select the "Reset Error" option.
- If error clears, go to Step 6. If error does not clear, call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
- Perform "Receipt Printer Test."
- If error does not return, place ATM back in service. If error returns, call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
Error Codes 148, and 151: Electronic Journal Write Failure, and Electronic Journal Full
Solution:
- Print or Clear the journal.
- Press the power switch off, wait 10 seconds, then turn back on.
- After an ATM reset, the "Reset Error" and "Management" options will appear. Select the "Reset Error" option.
- If the error clears,place ATM back in service. If error does not clear, call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
Error Code 182: Currency Cassette Low
Solution:
- Unlock security cabinet.
- Remove currency cassette.
- Reset Error: Press the power switch off, wait 10 seconds, then turn back on.
- After an ATM reset, the "Reset Error" and "Management" options will appear. Select the "Reset Error" option.
- If the error clears, go to Step 6. If error does not clear, call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
- Add currency to cassette.
- Reinsert cassette.
- Close and lock security cabinet.
- Do a "Test Dispense." Display should read "20 20 21."
- If error does not return, place ATM back in service. If error returns, call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
Error Code 183: Receipt Printer Paper Low
Solution:
- Open ATM control panel.
- Check paper status. Replace if low or empty.
- Close control panel.
- Reset Error: Press the power switch off, wait 10 seconds then turn back on.
- After an ATM reset, the "Reset Error" and "Management" options will appear. Select the "Reset Error" option.
- If the error clears, go to Step 7. If error does not clear, call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
- Perform "Receipt Printer Test."
- If error does not return, place ATM back in service. If error returns, call 1-800-877-8762 for service.
